Ruben Amorim, Milan's new coach, made it clear that his arrival at the club will not be a half-hearted process. The Portuguese coach said that the Rossoneri must aim for the top, winning both Serie A and the Europa League in the 2026-27 season. "I can't come here and say that we can't or don't want to win the title," he said firmly, setting a high standard from the start in line with the club's prestige
The weight of history and the recent past
Milan comes from a disappointing end to the season. Just one victory in the last five matches (with one draw and three losses) left them out of the Champions League, despite having reached 70 points. The 2-1 defeat against Cagliari on the final day sealed Allegri's departure and allowed Como to break into the top four. Amorim, however, does not want to look back: "There's a lot of work to be done, with a new coach and changes in the squad, but when you're at a club like Milan, you have to aim for the title. So we'll give it a try."
Preseason and immediate goals
"In the Europa League, we have to believe and want to win the competition. Everyone wants everything right away, but well-done things take time. My choice is to do the right thing at the right time," emphasized Amorim. Milan will have two more friendlies before the official start, against Chelsea and Manchester United, his former team. Then, on August 23, they will debut in Serie A by visiting Torino, and five days later, they will host Venezia at San Siro.
