Napoli lacking 'a bit of luck' and 'the right bounce' in Parma stalemate
Napoli missed the chance to close the gap on Serie A leaders Inter, after playing out their third successive draw against Parma.
Napoli were missing "a bit of luck" and "the right bounce" during their goalless draw with Parma, according to assistant coach Cristian Stellini.
The reigning Scudetto holders played out their third successive draw in Serie A, despite carrying the greater attacking thread for long periods at Stadio Diego Armando Maradona.
As suspended head coach Antonio Conte watched on from the stands, Scott McTominay saw an early goal disallowed following a VAR review, while Rasmus Hojlund, Noa Lang and Amir Rrahmani also went close for the hosts without success.
Napoli registered 16 shots worth 1.39 expected goals (xG), as well as 45 touches in the opposition box and 93 final-third entries, but had to settle for a share of the spoils.
"We were missing a bit of luck because there were so many situations in the box, but in none of them did we get the right bounce or the right moment," Stellini said.
"We've been playing for a long time with the same players and, every two or three days, sometimes you lack the sharpness that comes from recovering physical and mental energy."
Napoli missed the chance to close the gap on Serie A leaders Inter, who could pull six points clear of the Partenopei with victory over Lecce later on Wednesday.
"We have to remain clear-headed and work on the mentality of the players and the whole team," Stellini added.
