Dybala Hints at Roma Departure
The Argentine forward suggested that the upcoming derby against Lazio could be his final match in front of Roma supporters.
Paulo Dybala has opened the door to a possible departure from Roma, sparking concern among the club’s supporters after admitting that next weekend’s derby against Lazio will “probably” be his final match in front of the Giallorossi fans.
The Argentine striker spoke after Roma’s dramatic 3-2 victory over Parma, a match in which he once again played a key role. However, it was his comments about his future that quickly became the main talking point in Italy.
“The contract says that the derby will probably be my last match in front of the Roma fans. I still haven’t made a final decision, but that’s what the contract says,” Dybala told Sky Sports after the game.
The situation became even more surprising when the World Cup winner was asked whether the club had contacted him regarding his future.
“Has the club contacted me? No,” he answered bluntly.
Roma will face Lazio next Sunday in the penultimate round of the Serie A season before ending the campaign away against Hellas Verona. As things stand, the derby against their city rivals could turn into an emotional farewell for one of the most beloved players at the club.
Dybala joined Roma in July 2022 after accepting an offer from then-manager José Mourinho and quickly became a fan favorite. His talent, leadership and strong connection with supporters made him one of the central figures of the club’s project.
Although his contract was automatically extended until June 2026 after reaching specific appearance targets, the Argentine has endured a difficult season affected by recurring injuries and fitness issues that limited his consistency.
Back in the summer of 2024, Saudi Arabian club Al-Qadsiah attempted to sign him with a massive offer reportedly worth €25 million per season. At the time, Dybala rejected the proposal and chose to remain in the Italian capital.
Now, with no apparent negotiations taking place between the player and the club, uncertainty surrounding his future continues to grow, and Dybala’s journey with Roma may be approaching its end.
