Jonathan David expressed his gratitude for his Juventus team-mates and head coach Luciano Spalletti, after they celebrated the end of his goal drought.

The Canadian striker scored in the Bianconeri's 3-0 win over Sassuolo on Tuesday, ending his longest streak without a goal across Ligue 1 and Serie A (16 matches).

His goal came 110 seconds after he assisted Fabio Miretti, seeing him score and also provide an assist in an away match for the first time in his career.

Juventus have now won three consecutive away games in Serie A for the first time since the period between December 2023 and January 2024, under the guidance of Massimiliano Allegri.

After David scored the third goal, all his team-mates, the substitutes and Spalletti ran over to celebrate with him, for which he was extremely grateful.

"It's a nice touch, everyone here is so supportive of me and the team, so it's a great omen that everyone can celebrate together. I really appreciate this," he told DAZN Italia.

"I think it's a good goal, it comes at the right time for myself and the team. At the end of the day, the most important thing is that we get back on the winning track."

There were reports ahead of the match that David had not bonded with his team-mates since his move to Turin, but Spalletti was glad to see those rumours quashed.

"Everyone had taken a firm stance, because it's different when you are inside a situation, so when you receive all those insults and comments, I would've been surprised if the team hadn't acted as a shield to protect him," the head coach added.

"[David] sensed that during the last few days, and put in a great performance tonight. Seeing as he scored a goal, too, that just confirmed how many friends he has in the locker room."
