(VIDEO) All the Goals From Milan vs Napoli in Serie A
Milan defeated Napoli 2-1 in a thrilling match at San Siro, taking the Serie A lead and extending their winning streak thanks to a brilliant performance from Christian Pulisic, who starred with a goal and an assist.
Pulisic Shines and Pushes Milan to the Top
Milan reclaimed the top spot in Serie A for the first time in two years after a 2-1 win over defending champions Napoli, fueled by an electric start led by Christian Pulisic.
The American winger made an immediate impact: just 2 minutes and 23 seconds into the match, he sprinted down the flank and set up Saelemaekers for the opener. Minutes later, he capped off a slick team move with a precise finish to make it 2-0, scoring his fifth goal in as many straight victories for his team.
Napoli responded after the early blow, threatening with shots from Miguel Gutiérrez and Scott McTominay, both denied by sharp saves from goalkeeper Mike Maignan. The atmosphere at San Siro was electric, and although the visitors dominated possession, Milan were clinical on the counter.
Napoli Fought Back but Milan Held Firm
In the second half, Napoli maintained their pressure. A header from Anguissa and McTominay forced another excellent stop from Maignan, and on the rebound Di Lorenzo was brought down by Pervis Estupiñán. After a VAR review, the referee awarded a penalty and sent off the Ecuadorian defender.
Kevin De Bruyne converted the spot kick with class, placing the ball precisely to cut the deficit to 2-1 with over 35 minutes left to play.
Coach Massimiliano Allegri made adjustments, bringing on Rafael Leao after a long injury layoff, while Antonio Conte responded with several changes, including substituting a visibly frustrated De Bruyne.
Despite playing with a man advantage, Napoli struggled to break down Milan’s defense. Their best chance came in stoppage time when Neres smashed a powerful shot off the crossbar.
Led by Pulisic’s brilliance and Luka Modric’s control in midfield, Milan held their ground and secured first place in the standings.
