“It’s Nonsense!” Inter’s Firm Response to Neymar Transfer Rumors
Inter Milan have firmly denied any contact with Neymar, dismissing reports linking the Brazilian superstar with a return to Europe in 2026. The Italian club labeled the rumors as “nonsense,” making their stance crystal clear.
Inter Denies Any Plans to Sign Neymar
Rumors about Neymar Jr. returning to European football have been circulating as the Brazilian nears the end of his contract with Santos FC. However, one of the clubs rumored to be interested, Inter Milan, quickly shut down any speculation.
Speaking to Corriere dello Sport, Inter sporting director Piero Ausilio issued a blunt response when asked about the possibility of signing the former Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain star:
“Neymar? Come on, that’s nonsense. Never contacted, never offered — it’s rubbish.”
The 33-year-old forward returned to Brazil in early 2025 after parting ways with Al-Hilal in Saudi Arabia. His homecoming to Santos was meant to help him regain full fitness and rediscover his love for the game ahead of the 2026 World Cup, but his future remains uncertain.
Despite his recent injury struggles, Neymar is still regarded as a game-changer, capable of turning matches around, and continues to attract interest from clubs around the world. Still, Inter have made it clear they are not among his potential suitors.
Inter’s Real Transfer Targets Revealed
While dismissing any link to Neymar, Ausilio did confirm that Inter pursued other targets during the summer window. One of them was Nigerian winger Ademola Lookman, currently with Atalanta, though negotiations broke down.
“We tried for Lookman, but Atalanta wouldn’t budge. However, the progress of Pio Esposito and Ange-Yoan Bonny allowed us to stick with our 3-5-2 system,” said Ausilio.
He also revealed that Inter had been following Danish striker Rasmus Højlund, who ultimately joined Napoli on loan from Manchester United.
Finally, Ausilio addressed speculation about his own future, amid reports linking him to the Saudi Pro League. The Italian director reaffirmed his loyalty to the Nerazzurri:
“I’m happy where I am. I have a contract until 2027. I’ve had more lucrative offers before, but I’ve never left Inter.”
With these statements, Inter Milan made their position clear — the club remains focused on its current project and has no plans to chase big-name transfers like Neymar, preferring long-term stability and development instead.
