Inter Milan did just enough to earn a 1-0 home win over Hellas Verona on Matchday 35 of the Serie A, in a game shaped by massive rotation ahead of the second leg against Barcelona in the Champions League semifinals.
With the dramatic 3-3 draw from the first leg still fresh and a spot in the final on the line Tuesday, coach Simone Inzaghi chose to rest nearly all of his starters. Only Yan Bisseck remained from the usual XI, while stars like Lautaro Martínez, Yann Sommer, Federico Dimarco, Nicolo Barella, and Marcus Thuram were all kept out of action.
The winning goal came early, in the 9th minute, after a handball by Valentini in the box following a move by Marko Arnautovic. Kristjan Asllani stepped up and converted the penalty to give the Nerazzurri the lead.

Although Inter didn’t shine, they weren’t seriously threatened either. A low shot by Sarr was Verona’s most dangerous effort, but it was stopped comfortably by Josef Martínez, who had little else to do all match.
The game slowed down significantly after the goal, with few chances and a second half focused on managing energy. Inzaghi made several substitutions, bringing on Dimarco, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Acerbi, and Taremi, but the tempo remained low.
Despite late tension caused by the narrow lead and Hellas Verona pushing forward, Inter Milan held firm to avoid a costly draw and remains three points off the top of the table.

Now, all focus shifts to the Champions League. On Tuesday, Inter will host Barcelona at the Giuseppe Meazza, aiming to book a place in the European final.
