Jhon Duran Joins Benfica on Loan With Purchase Option
Benfica have officially signed Colombian striker Jhon Duran on a season-long loan from Al-Nassr, with the agreement including a €30 million option to buy at the end of the campaign.
Benfica have officially completed the signing of Colombian striker Jhon Duran from Al-Nassr on a season-long loan for the 2026-27 campaign, bringing the 22-year-old back to European football after his spell in Saudi Arabia.
The Portuguese club confirmed it will pay €6.1 million for the loan agreement, which also includes a €30 million purchase option should Benfica decide to make the move permanent next summer.
After completing the transfer, Duran expressed his excitement about joining one of Portugal's biggest clubs and made his ambitions clear.
"I'm very grateful to God. I'm happy. I still believe this is the biggest club in Portugal. I have very high expectations for my time here. I want to play well, give everything I have, and become a champion," the Colombian forward said.
Duran began his professional career with Envigado before earning a move to Major League Soccer with the Chicago Fire. His impressive performances led Aston Villa to sign him in January 2023, and Al-Nassr later secured his services in a deal reportedly worth €77 million. Loan spells with Fenerbahce and Zenit followed before his latest move to Benfica.
The striker now hopes to re-establish himself at the highest level of European football while helping Benfica compete for domestic and continental honors.
Internationally, Duran has already made 17 appearances and scored three goals for Colombia, further highlighting the potential that Benfica hope to unlock during the upcoming season.
