Huge Talent Alert: FC Porto Paid €10 Million for a 17-Year-Old — Who Is Oskar Pietuszewski?

FC Porto have secured one of the most exciting young prospects in world football. Oskar Pietuszewski has become the most expensive underage footballer ever to join the Portuguese league, after the Dragons paid €10 million to sign the 17-year-old from Jagiellonia Białystok.
Ranked fourth in the world among players under 18 by CIES and listed among The Guardian’s 60 greatest talents in global football, Pietuszewski arrives in Portugal with immense expectations — and elite-level competition for his signature, including Atlético Madrid.
Why Oskar Pietuszewski Is Considered a Generational Talent
Despite being just 17 years old, Pietuszewski already boasts remarkable senior experience:
- 50+ senior matches
- 17 appearances in European competitions
- Debut at age 16 against Ajax
- 4 goals and 3 assists at senior level
Last season, he emerged as one of the standout performers for Jagiellonia Białystok and across the PKO BP Ekstraklasa, particularly excelling in one-on-one dribbles. Polish football has not seen such a fearless winger in years.
Former Chicago Fire striker and Polish football expert Tomasz Frankowski summed it up perfectly for beIN Sports USA:
“Oskar has no nervous system. He is always looking to dribble and does not calculate.”
Frankowski added:
“He is a diamond in the rough, waiting to be polished into a brilliant gem — and FC Porto knows how to do that.”

Why FC Porto Was the Perfect Destination
According to Frankowski, Porto’s reputation for developing and selling elite talent made the move logical:
“They paid a lot of money relative to their capabilities, which they will want to recoup. They know how to do it — unlike leagues where players are discarded without emotion.”
Porto paid €10 million, while Transfermarkt values Pietuszewski at €12 million. There has been speculation he could eventually break the Ekstraklasa transfer record (€11 million). Jagiellonia protected their interests by securing 10% of the profit from his next transfer.
International Future and What Comes Next
Although many fans hoped to see Pietuszewski debut early for the Polish senior national team alongside Robert Lewandowski, that call-up will likely come later. A first appearance could arrive during the European play-offs for the 2026 World Cup. For now, he continues to shine with Poland’s U21 side.
At club level, Pietuszewski joins fellow Poles Jan Bednarek and Jakub Kiwior at Porto. The Dragons are currently dominating domestically, conceding just four goals in 17 league matches and holding a seven-point lead at the top.
