Sporting CP let a two-goal advantage slip in a 2-2 draw against Estrela da Amadora to open their Liga Portugal campaign, despite Rodrigo Zalazar delivering a standout performance with a goal and an assist.

Sporting appeared to be in control after building a 2-0 lead, but the hosts fought back through Leandro Antonetti and Beni Souza to rescue a point.

Léo Linck keeps Estrela in the game

Sporting CP took the initiative during the opening half and created opportunities through Fotis Ioannidis and Rodrigo Zalazar, but they were unable to turn their dominance into a goal.

Léo Linck, Estrela da Amadora's goalkeeper, stepped up when called upon and emerged as one of the hosts' key performers during the opening 45 minutes.

Estrela also had an opportunity to take the lead when Leandro Antonetti nearly capitalized on a Sporting defensive mistake, but he was unable to convert.

The match remained scoreless at halftime.

Zalazar shines with a goal and an assist

Sporting finally turned its dominance into goals after the break, with Rodrigo Zalazar taking center stage.

The midfielder broke the deadlock to make it 1-0 before setting up Fotis Ioannidis to double Sporting's advantage.

At 2-0, Sporting appeared to have the match under control, but Estrela da Amadora responded.

Antonetti and Beni Souza rescue Estrela

Leandro Antonetti, who had already threatened in the first half, pulled one back to bring Estrela into the match.

Then Beni Souza found the 2-2 equalizer in a play where Sporting goalkeeper Silva could have done more to keep the ball out.

Estrela da Amadora completed its comeback, leaving Sporting CP to settle for a point after surrendering a two-goal lead in its opening match of the new Liga Portugal season.
