'Everything is possible' – Rohl eyeing title tilt after Rangers' win over Aberdeen
Rangers moved to within three points of the Scottish Premiership summit after easing to a 2-0 win over managerless Aberdeen on Tuesday.
Rangers boss Danny Rohl did not rule out his team challenging for the Scottish Premiership title after they closed the gap to leaders Hearts with a 2-0 victory over Aberdeen.
Ibrox Stadium was on its feet with just 11 minutes on the clock when defender Emmanuel Fernandez rose highest inside the penalty area to meet Connor Barron's corner kick.
And the hosts doubled their lead four minutes before the break through Nicolas Raskin, who brilliantly headed another Barron set-piece beyond the grasp of Dimitar Mitov.
Rangers dominated after the break, with Raskin, Danilo and Thelo Aasgaard going close, but their first-half goals were enough to see them build on their Old Firm triumph.
Indeed, since Rohl swapped Sheffield Wednesday for Glasgow back in October, no team has won more games (10) or scored more goals (24) than Rangers.
The Opta supercomputer assigns Rangers just a 22.3% chance of lifting the title, but Rohl believes that, based on his previous experiences, his team can pull off that feat.
"Fantastic, three points, clean sheet. All in all, very proud of the group at the moment," Rohl said.
"We closed the gap to just three points from 13 when I arrived. It's a statement but still not what we want. We're on a journey, it's about the next game on Sunday.
"When I took over two years ago at Sheffield Wednesday, we were 12, 13 points under the line. In the end, we survived. In football, everything is possible.
"It's about small steps, belief, bringing confidence back and trusting the players. At the moment, we're in a good way but have a lot of things to do."
And though Rohl has received plaudits for his quick turnaround at the club, he revealed that the key to getting a tune out of Rangers was building up their confidence.
"It's still the same players as three months ago. It's outstanding from my players what they've done in the past couple of weeks," Rohl added.
"At first, it's not about me but about my coaching team. That is very important. The key is to analyse what's important and what's possible with the group.
"This is the reason why I sometimes change the shape. It's about giving the players belief and self-confidence.
"This is my experience when I worked for Bayern Munich, the big players, you need confidence. If they have confidence, you can really grow as a group."
