The Xabi Alonso era at Chelsea is already beginning to take shape. Just one week after being officially announced as the club’s new manager, the Spanish coach has reportedly secured his first signing ahead of next season.

The player is Valentín Barco, the 21-year-old Argentine midfielder who enjoyed an outstanding campaign with Strasbourg in France. According to reports from England, the deal is fully agreed and Barco is expected to sign a four-year contract with the London club.

Barco’s arrival has received Xabi Alonso’s full approval, as the former Real Madrid midfielder sees the Argentine as a perfect fit for his football philosophy. Comfortable both in midfield and at left-back, Barco is known for his technical quality, dribbling ability, vision, and creativity on the ball.
