Wirtz Set for Short Spell on Sidelines
Arne Slot confirmed Florian Wirtz will miss the Wolves clash and is doubtful for the FA Cup tie, but hopes he will return ahead of the Champions League trip to Galatasaray.
Liverpool FC remain cautious over the recovery of Florian Wirtz, who is sidelined with a back injury. The German midfielder picked up the issue during the warm-up before the match against Nottingham Forest FC, a 1-0 win for the Reds. He also missed the 5-2 victory over West Ham United FC.
Head coach Arne Slot stated that Wirtz will not feature this Tuesday against Wolverhampton Wanderers FC, currently bottom of the Premier League, and is also likely to miss Friday’s FA Cup round-of-16 clash. However, Slot expects him back “next week, sooner or later.”
Liverpool face a demanding schedule, including a UEFA Champions League Round of 16 first leg against Galatasaray SK on March 10, followed by a Premier League home game against Tottenham Hotspur FC.
A convincing win at Molineux could temporarily lift Liverpool into third place, depending on other results.
