However, the Manchester City midfielder is set to undergo a procedure that had already been scheduled before the World Cup and is not expected to affect the start of the new season.

How serious is Rodri's injury?

According to Marca, Rodri will undergo a minor procedure to correct a small back issue that has been causing him some discomfort.

The operation is expected to be an outpatient procedure, meaning he will not require hospitalization and, in principle, it should not prevent him from taking part in Manchester City's preseason preparations.

The report also states that the procedure had been planned before the 2026 World Cup and is intended to prevent future physical problems.

The injury did not affect Rodri's performances during the tournament, where he played a key role for Spain and was awarded the Golden Ball.
