Vicario thanks 'man of his word' De Zerbi for Juve move

Guglielmo Vicario labelled Roberto De Zerbi "a man of his word" and thanked the Tottenham boss for his directness.

Vicario joined Juventus on a season-long loan for 2026-27 after falling down the pecking order at Spurs following De Zerbi's appointment.

The goalkeeper did not play a single minute under De Zerbi, who preferred Antonin Kinsky during Spurs' relegation fight in 2025-26. 

Vicario made 43 appearances for Spurs last season under Thomas Frank and Igor Tudor, but eventually asked for a move in the summer.

The Italian has since become Juve's number one option and has conceded just once across their first three Serie A games.

When asked about his relationship with De Zerbi, Vicario told Sky in Italy: "Fantastic, from the first day.

"I thank him; I did it personally the day I signed with Juventus. With me he was a real person, direct and above all a man of his word.

"He gave me the opportunity to take this step that I had in mind, he supported me and I will always be grateful to him."

Spurs finished 17th in the Premier League last season, retaining their Premier League status on the final day with a 1-0 win over Everton.

They have also struggled in the opening stages of 2026-27, losing their opening two league fixtures before a goalless draw with Nottingham Forest.

However, when asked about Spurs' troubles, Vicario was hesitant to answer.

"There have been some dynamics that have not aligned, probably for several reasons that make no sense to mention now," said the 29-year-old.
