UEFA Fines Tottenham Amid Relegation Crisis and Arsenal in the Title Race
The European football authority prepared economic sanctions for English teams due to behavior issues in previous matches
Arsenal fined after losing the top spot
The former Premier League leader and UEFA Champions League semifinalist is complicating things at the end of the season after having it under control all year.
The English team arrives battered. Not only did they recently lose the top spot in the Premier League, but they were also sanctioned by UEFA due to incidents involving their fans in the match against Bayer Leverkusen.
The sanction consists of a fine of 2,400 dollars for the use of fireworks in the visiting stands. Specifically, it involved flares lit by Arsenal fans, an element prohibited by the European organization's regulations.
It's not the only team sanctioned
Arsenal is not the only English club that received penalties in this edition of the Champions. Tottenham was also fined: 10,700 dollars for the late start of the match in which they lost 5-2 to Atlético in Madrid. In addition, they received a warning for "team misconduct," as five of their starters were booked during that match.

UEFA Priorities
These measures reflect the firmness with which UEFA seeks to maintain order in the competition, sanctioning both clubs and their fans when the rules are violated.
In this context, Arsenal is going through sports and institutional turbulence, but it remains a heavyweight rival in Europe. Both the Champions League semifinal clash and the Premier League title race will be worthy of a spectacle.
