Tottenham Knocked on Barça’s Door for One of Their Jewels… but It Was Shut
Tottenham made a move, and Chelsea and Atlético Madrid remain interested… but the Barça academy graduate has yet to make a decision. Meanwhile, the Catalan club is hoping to secure a sale.
Tottenham Hotspur tried to sign Marc Casadó this summer, but the 21-year-old FC Barcelona midfielder wasn’t keen on moving to London. According to Sport, Spurs approached the Catalan club to negotiate a transfer, but the deal didn’t move forward due to the player's lack of interest in joining the English side.
Casadó, who already has 41 appearances with Barça’s first team, is considered one of the assets the club would be willing to sell during this window if the right offer comes in. However, Tottenham has since moved on, bringing in João Palhinha on loan from Bayern Munich to reinforce their defensive midfield.
Chelsea and Atlético are still in the race
Valued at around €30 million, Marc Casadó remains firmly on the radar of top clubs. Both Chelsea and Atlético Madrid are closely monitoring his situation, especially given Barça’s financial need to make sales this summer.
While the club still hopes to strike a deal, everything will depend on the player himself—and whether an offer comes along that truly appeals to him. For now, the La Masía product remains part of Hansi Flick’s squad, though without a guaranteed starting spot.
A full international still looking to break through
Marc Casadó has already been capped twice by the Spanish national team, but his role at Barcelona continues to be inconsistent. Last season, he made 20 starts in LaLiga, although a ligament injury sidelined him for over a month near the end of the campaign.
