Tottenham and Everton Move for Mauro Icardi

  • Mauro Icardi remains a free agent after ending his spell with Galatasaray, but his return to action could come in England. Tottenham and Everton have emerged among the clubs interested in the Argentine striker, who is still looking to determine the next chapter of his career.

Tottenham Emerges as an Option for Icardi

The months continue to pass as Mauro Icardi waits for the right project to return to soccer. The Argentine striker's contract with Galatasaray expired on June 30, and he has since been linked with several clubs across Europe.

Now, the Premier League has emerged as a possible destination for the 33-year-old forward.

According to TyC Sports, Tottenham has evaluated the possibility of signing Icardi as a free agent. Roberto De Zerbi's side began the season with significant attacking problems, and the Argentine has emerged as a potential option to add experience and goals to the squad.

For now, that interest has not resulted in an official offer. As a free agent, Icardi can negotiate a move without having to wait for another transfer window, although his registration would depend on competition rules.

Everton Has Also Asked About the Argentine

Tottenham is not the only English club to have been linked with the former Inter captain.

Everton also explored the possibility of signing Icardi after the transfer window closed. TyC Sports reported in September that the Argentine had been offered to the Liverpool-based club, which ended the window looking for greater depth at center-forward.

However, subsequent reports cooled that possibility, and there has been no confirmation of advanced negotiations between the two sides.

The situation leaves Icardi with several possible paths. In recent weeks, he has also been linked with Lazio, Olympiacos and PAOK, although none of those situations has resulted in a contract being signed.

Icardi Wants to Compete Again

While determining his future, Icardi continues to train on his own. The striker recently shared images of his workouts and responded to those who have questioned his situation while he remains without a club.

His departure from Galatasaray brought an important chapter of his career to an end. The Argentine left the Turkish club after four seasons in which he recorded 77 goals in 134 appearances and established himself as one of the team's biggest stars.

His experience also makes him an attractive option for a potential return to one of Europe's major leagues. Before playing in Turkey, Icardi represented Sampdoria, Inter and Paris Saint-Germain, building much of his reputation as one of the most prolific Argentine strikers of his generation.

At 33, his objective is now to find a project that will allow him to compete regularly again. England has emerged as one possibility, with Tottenham and Everton among the clubs that have explored his situation, but Icardi's future remains open for now.
