The emotional video Liverpool used to honor and bid farewell to Mohamed Salah
The Egyptian forward brings his unforgettable era with the Reds to an end after leaving a lasting mark on the club and world football alike.
As expected, Liverpool delivered a touching tribute to their legendary goalscorer and icon, Mohamed Salah, who is set to leave the club after nine memorable and highly successful seasons. Through an emotional video filmed at Anfield alongside his family, the Merseyside club paid homage to one of the greatest figures in its modern history.
RELIVING THE MEMORIES
The tribute begins with Salah’s two daughters, Makka and Kayan, walking onto the Anfield pitch to reveal a collection of photographs capturing some of the Egyptian star’s most iconic goals and unforgettable moments in a Liverpool shirt.
Visibly emotional, Salah looks back fondly on memories cherished not only by Liverpool supporters, but by football fans around the world. And for good reason. During his time at the club, he helped Liverpool win two Premier League titles — including the club’s first league championship of the Premier League era and the one that ended a 30-year drought.
He also lifted the UEFA Champions League trophy, won four Premier League Golden Boots, a FIFA Club World Cup, a UEFA Super Cup, two EFL Cups, an FA Cup and a Community Shield.
The video closes with a heartfelt moment as Salah’s daughters share a few words with their father, while a family photo featuring his wife Maggi and the Premier League trophy appears on screen.
FROM DOUBT TO IMMORTALITY
Salah arrived at Liverpool from AS Roma in 2017 surrounded by uncertainty, tasked with helping revive a sleeping giant that had spent years struggling to reclaim its place among Europe’s elite. Despite an underwhelming previous spell at Chelsea, the Egyptian superstar exceeded every expectation.
Over nine remarkable seasons, he delivered nine major trophies, 257 goals and 121 assists, cementing his status as one of Liverpool’s all-time greats under both Jürgen Klopp and Arne Slot. Without question, Anfield witnessed the finest years of his career, even if recent seasons became more complicated due to age and ongoing contract demands.
THE FINAL GOODBYE
This Sunday will mark Salah’s final farewell, as Liverpool host Brentford at Anfield on the last matchday of the 2025-26 season.
Everything is set for an emotional send-off that is sure to leave many fans in tears. It will be the final time the Anfield crowd sings the famous chant:
"Mo Salah, Mo Salah, Mo Salah, running down the wing… Salah, la, la, la, laaaaaa… The Egyptian King!"
There is no doubt Salah remains one of the most beloved players in Liverpool history, with a legacy that places him alongside club legends such as Kenny Dalglish, Steven Gerrard and Ian Rush.
WHAT’S NEXT FOR SALAH?
For now, the 33-year-old forward will shift his focus to the Egypt national team ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, marking his return to football’s biggest stage since Russia 2018. Before the tournament, Egypt is scheduled to play friendlies against Russia on May 28 and Brazil on June 6.
At the World Cup, Egypt will face Belgium on June 15 in Seattle, New Zealand on June 21 in Vancouver and Iran on June 26 back in Seattle as part of Group G.
Once the tournament concludes, Salah is expected to evaluate several offers. Clubs from MLS and the Saudi Pro League remain interested — particularly Al Ittihad, Al Qadsiah, Al Diriyah and Al Ula — while Barcelona and potentially teams from Ligue 1 and the Bundesliga are also monitoring his situation.
The only question left is: where will the “Egyptian King” go next?
