Salah Takes Another Swipe at Slot Amid Liverpool Crisis
Liverpool stumbled once again. The defeat against Aston Villa confirmed the difficult moment the team managed by Arne Slot is going through, having now gone three consecutive matches without a win while continuing to show worrying inconsistency throughout the season.
After the match, Mohamed Salah set social media ablaze with comments many interpreted as a direct message aimed at the Dutch manager.
Salah’s Message Sparks Controversy
The Egyptian forward posted a strong statement making his frustration with the club’s current situation very clear:
“I want to see Liverpool return to being that aggressive, attacking team feared by opponents… Liverpool must win titles, and that identity has to be restored and maintained… that is non-negotiable, everyone at Liverpool must adapt.”
But the line that created the biggest reaction came at the end of his message:
“Winning from time to time should not define Liverpool. Every team wins matches, but Liverpool must always compete for titles.”
The striker’s words were widely interpreted as a clear dig at Arne Slot and the style he has tried to implement since arriving at Anfield.

Tension Between Slot and Salah Continues to Grow
The relationship between Salah and Slot has never appeared completely solid. Since the beginning of the season, important footballing differences have existed between them. While Jürgen Klopp built a vertical, intense, and aggressive Liverpool side in transition, Slot has favored a slower approach focused on possession and positional control.
That tactical change has particularly affected Salah. The Egyptian went from being the centerpiece of a devastating attack to operating in a system where he often receives the ball farther away from goal and with fewer spaces to exploit his speed.
In several matches, the forward’s frustration became evident when he was substituted or when the team prioritized control over attacking aggressively. On social media, supporters have even pointed out cold interactions between the two throughout the season.
The situation intensified even further because several Liverpool players reacted positively to Salah’s post, something many interpreted as a sign that part of the dressing room is not fully aligned with the manager.
Although Slot managed to win the Premier League with Liverpool, the season still left major doubts regarding the team’s style of play and dressing room management.
Pressure on the Dutch coach is beginning to rise, and one of his biggest challenges now will be rebuilding the connection with the squad, especially with iconic figures like Salah, whose departure from Anfield is a fact.
