Manchester City have secured the signing of Argentine goalkeeper Gerónimo Rulli following the departure of James Trafford. The experienced shot-stopper joins from Olympique de Marseille on a deal that runs until June 2028, with the French club reportedly receiving around €3.5 million for the transfer.

Rulli arrives to provide strong competition for Gianluigi Donnarumma as Pep Guardiola's side continues to strengthen its squad ahead of another Premier League title challenge. His extensive experience in European football and his consistency at the international level make him a valuable addition to City's goalkeeping department.

Marseille, meanwhile, clears significant wages from its payroll and is expected to replace Rulli with Polish goalkeeper Marcin Bulka. The Argentine had been a key member of the Ligue 1 side since joining the club in 2024.

On the international stage, Rulli has been a trusted member of Lionel Scaloni's Argentina squad, serving as the primary backup to Emiliano "Dibu" Martínez during the nation's recent successful campaigns. His move to Manchester City presents another major opportunity to establish himself at one of Europe's biggest clubs as he looks to earn minutes at the Etihad Stadium.

Gerónimo Rulli is one of the few Argentine footballers who can boast of having won both the UEFA Europa League and the World Cup. He was the starting goalkeeper for Villarreal when they conquered the Europa League in 2021, where he saved the decisive penalty in the historic shootout against Manchester United and, additionally, scored his own penalty before stopping David de Gea's shot to give the Spanish club its first major European title.
