Premier League Player of the Year Nominees Revealed
Arsenal and Manchester City continue battling for the title, but the Premier League has already announced the nominees for the Player of the Year award. The candidates are Bruno Fernandes, Gabriel, Morgan Gibbs-White, Erling Haaland, David Raya, Declan Rice, Antoine Semenyo, and Igor Thiago.
The voting will be decided by the fans, and the race looks extremely close, as every nominee has done enough to deserve the award.
Bruno Fernandes and Gabriel Stand Out Among the Favorites
Bruno Fernandes has been one of the most important players for Manchester United this season. In 33 matches, he has scored 8 goals and provided 20 assists, an impressive number that places him as the outright leader in assists in the Premier League. The Portuguese star was named Player of the Month in March and earned his sixth award of this kind, leaving him just one behind the record held by Mohamed Salah. In addition, Fernandes already won the FWA Footballer of the Year award, something that could give him an advantage over the rest of the nominees.
Gabriel has also enjoyed an outstanding season with Arsenal. From central defense, he has become one of the leaders of Mikel Arteta’s side, which remains in the fight for the championship. The Brazilian has recorded 3 goals and 4 assists, but beyond the numbers, his ability to organize the team and maintain defensive solidity has placed him among the top contenders for the award.
Nottingham Forest did not have the easiest season, even fighting to avoid relegation at one stage, but Morgan Gibbs-White has been a true bright spot for the club. The midfielder has registered 13 goals and 4 assists, though his influence on Forest’s attacking play has been even more remarkable. He can play as a central midfielder, on the wings, or even as a striker. His versatility and importance in the team’s results have earned him a place among the nominees. He also won the Player of the Month award in April.

Haaland, Raya, and Rice Keep the Race Wide Open
The season of Erling Haaland has once again been spectacular. The Norwegian striker leads the Premier League scoring charts with 26 goals and 8 assists. Manchester City has especially relied on him during the final stretch of the campaign, where he scored in four consecutive matches. However, he remained on the bench in the clash against Crystal Palace. Haaland already won the Player of the Month award in September and is now looking to claim the Player of the Year prize once again after winning it in the 2022/23 season.
David Raya has been crucial in Arsenal’s title challenge. The Spanish goalkeeper has started every league match for the Gunners and has kept 18 clean sheets this season. He also won the Save of the Month award in December and is now aiming to become the first goalkeeper since Peter Schmeichel to win this honor.
The campaign of Declan Rice has also been outstanding. The midfielder has become the anchor of Arsenal and a fundamental piece in Mikel Arteta’s system. He has already recorded 7 assists, and his influence on the team’s overall play has been enormous. Rice appears to be one of the favorites, although the competition this season is especially strong.
Antoine Semenyo has also shined this campaign. The African forward has recorded 16 goals and 4 assists, becoming a key figure in his team’s attacking production. His versatility allows him to play on either wing or even as a center forward when needed. The Ghana international won the Player of the Month award in February and, if he wins this recognition, he would become only the second African player to achieve it after Mohamed Salah.
The list is completed by Igor Thiago, the Brentford striker who has surprised the entire Premier League with 22 goals. The Brazilian sits just behind Erling Haaland in the scoring table and was already named Player of the Month in January. The Bees dream of qualifying for European competition, and much of those aspirations depend on Thiago’s goals, as he could lead the club to a historic finish.
