Onana to miss Man United's pre-season tour through injury
Ruben Amorim will be without his first-choice goalkeeper during Manchester United’s pre-season tour due to Andre Onana’s hamstring injury.
Andre Onana has been ruled out of Manchester United's pre-season tour of the United States after suffering a hamstring injury.
The goalkeeper will still travel with the squad to America while working on his recovery, but will not take part in any of their Premier League Summer Series matches.
Ruben Amorim is likely to play Altay Bayindir as his first-choice goalkeeper in their fixtures against West Ham United, Bournemouth, and Everton.
Man United's other goalkeeping options include Radek Vitek, Hubert Graczyk, Elyh Harrison, Dermot Mee, and Tom Heaton, who recently signed a new one-year extension.
There was speculation around Onana's future after a difficult 2024-25 campaign, conceding 44 goals in the Premier League, the 10th-highest total in the division.
Only Arijanet Muric, Robert Sanchez and Bart Verbruggen (five) made more errors leading to goals in the top flight than Onana (three, level with Alphonse Areola).
But the 29-year-old has received the backing of Amorim ahead of the new campaign.
However, United have been linked with a move for Botafogo's John Victor, according to reports in Brazil.
