Chelsea confirms it's official
Chelsea confirmed on Tuesday that Liam Rosenior, former coach of Strasbourg, is the new head coach of the Stamford Bridge team. Rosenior has signed a contract with Chelsea Football Club until 2032.
Liam Rosenior had been head coach at Strasbourg since the summer of 2024. The French club Strasbourg belongs to the same American consortium as Chelsea, BlueCo. Rosenior's former team was in seventh place in Ligue 1. Chelsea is currently in fifth place, sandwiched between Liverpool and Manchester United.
Sixth coach since BlueCo's arrival and acquisition of Chelsea.
Rosenior becomes the sixth coach to arrive at Stamford Bridge since BlueCo took control of the club in the spring of 2022. Liam Rosenior was enthusiastic about Chelsea's possible call to manage the london team, as he expressed during a press conference at Strasbourg's stadium, Stade de la Meinau in Strasbourg. The Strasbourg coach has reportedly reached a verbal agreement with Chelsea.
Chelsea's current situation
Chelsea managed to get a draw in extra time with a goal from Enzo Fernández against Manchester City, in its last match. During this game, the London team was under the guidance of Calum Macfarlane, the interim manager who was replacing Chelsea's former head coach, Enzo Maresca. The team had previously earned draws against Bournemouth and Newcastle, and a loss to Aston Villa.

Important upcoming matches
On January 14, Chelsea will face the Premier League leaders in the EFL Cup semi-final. Arsenal is in good form, but earlier this season in a league match against Chelsea, they drew 1-1.
