'No quick fix' at Tottenham, but Frank expects to be given time
Tottenham are now six points adrift of the Premier League top four after slumping to a 3-0 defeat against Nottingham Forest on Sunday.
Thomas Frank believes he is deserving of being given more time to turn Tottenham's fortunes around after their 3-0 defeat to Nottingham Forest on Sunday.
Frank watched on as Callum Hudson-Odoi's brace either side of half-time was followed up by Ibrahim Sangare's 79th-minute stunner at the City Ground.
It is a result that leaves Spurs six points adrift of fourth-placed Chelsea after 16 games of their season, prompting questions to be raised over Frank's future at the club.
Spurs have picked up just 22 points across their first 16 Premier League games this season (W6 D4 L6), last recording fewer at this stage of a league campaign in 2008-09 (18).
A lot has been made about Tottenham's attacking play under Frank, though they had impressed on the road in 2025-26. Ahead of facing Forest, Spurs were the only side in the Premier League to score in each of their away games this season.
In this match, however, they recorded just one shot on target, the third time since the start of the 2022-23 season that they've recorded one or fewer in an away match in the competition (also one vs Crystal Palace in October 2023 and vs Aston Villa in May 2025).
Asked if he would be given time to implement his idea, Frank said: "I can't see why not.
"I think it's pretty evident that if no one gets the time, no one can turn this around. This is not a quick fix.
"I do everything to control my emotions, which is a hurricane inside me, because, of course, it's frustrating that we are not doing better today after three good performances.
"I think it is extremely important to be calm and measured and, of course, have very, very direct and clear messages at the right time, so they're not in doubt of what I think.
"I'm very honest about where we are as well. I was also very honest. Today was a very bad performance, no two ways about that.
"But I also know that changing this will take some time. No one will want to hear about that. It's just reality.
"I think the ones who have followed the club and the team, I think it's fair to say there've been a few inconsistent performances, and that's the thing. We are working very hard."
Spurs fell behind in the 28th minute when Guglielmo Vicario's pass to Archie Gray on the edge of the box put him under pressure, allowing Sangare to steal in and square the ball for Hudson-Odoi to finish.
Indeed, Tottenham have recorded five errors leading to opposition goals so far in the Premier League this season, with only Wolves (seven) recording more.
Spurs also lead the league for most errors made leading to opposition shots (20), though Frank was quick to defend Vicario for his involvement in that piece of play.
"I think you see that every week in the Premier League and from every team all over the world," Frank added. "So, there's no problem with that.
"It is a classic thing you see week in, week out. A ball playing to one of the two sitters, bounce it up at the first touch, not take a touch.
"You learn from that, I'm pretty sure he will use one touch next time."
