Michael Carrick Wants to Stay at Manchester United Results Squad Support and Champions League Fight
Carrick enjoys his role at Manchester United with strong results and squad support while fighting to return to the Champions League
Carrick and his desire to remain at United
Michael Carrick, Manchester United's manager whose contract expires at the end of the season, has expressed his intention to remain in the role. Ahead of the match against Brentford, the manager admitted that he thoroughly enjoys his role and feels privileged.
“I've said it many times. I'm really enjoying my role. We've had very good results, and we're in good shape. I can't say much, but I love being here, and I really enjoy it. It's a real privilege to be in the position I'm in,” Carrick said at a press conference
He transformed Manchester United
Since his arrival in January, the former midfielder has managed twelve matches, posting a record of eight wins, two draws, and two losses. Under his leadership, United climbed from seventh place, following Amorim's departure, to third place, firmly in the running for the Champions League. The team holds an eight-point lead over sixth-placed Arsenal, bringing it closer to returning to Europe's top competition after a one-year absence
Not only results, but also the backing of the squad
The support of the squad was also evident. Amad Diallo was one of the first to publicly express his support: “He's the right man for this position. He knows the club, he has played here, and he has a wealth of experience to lead it. He hasn't been here long, but he's done very well, and his relationship with the players is excellent. Sometimes you need a manager like that to get the club back to where it belongs.”
For his part, Bryan Mbeumo highlighted the manager's communication skills: “He knows what this club has been through, and he knows how to communicate with us.”
With positive results, player support, and a plan that has restored competitiveness and hope to Old Trafford, Carrick stands as a strong candidate for a contract extension. Keeping him on would be a vote of confidence from the management and an opportunity to consolidate a process aimed at restoring United to its rightful place in history
