Mbeumo will not be sold cheap, vows Frank
Brentford head coach Thomas Frank has conceded that the club could sell their star man, Bryan Mbeumo, this summer for the "right price".
It will take a sizeable offer to pry Bryan Mbeumo away from Brentford this summer, according to head coach Thomas Frank.
But the Dane knows the Cameroon international is likely to be of interest to plenty of Premier League clubs.
Liverpool, Arsenal, Tottenham and Newcastle United are among the sides having been linked with Mbeumo.
The 25-year-old has scored 18 league goals so far in 2024-25, ranking behind only Erling Haaland (21), Alexander Isak (22) and Mohamed Salah (28).
He is also vastly outperforming his 10.56 expected goals, meaning that he has scored around seven goals more than would be expected from the quality of chances he has had.
Add to this six league assists, and only Isak (28) and Salah (46) have registered more goal contributions than Mbeumo (24) so far this term.
Ahead of Brentford's clash with Nottingham Forest, Frank told Sky Sports, "I'm the head coach, I want my best players to stay forever. I know that Bryan is very happy being here at Brentford, he's thriving, doing well and playing fantastic. What happens in the future? I don't know. I've said many times: we are a selling club. But at the same time we have to reinforce that there are 10 clubs in the world who aren't selling clubs."
Losing Mbeumo, who joined the club from French side Troyes in 2019, would break up the razor-sharp strike partnership he has formed with Yoane Wissa, who has himself scored 16 league goals this season. Both players have 11 league goals at home in 24-25, the joint most by a Bees player since Ivan Toney in 2022-23.
"Of course, if the right price - and that's going to be expensive - is coming, then I'm sure the club will be open for it. But I'm very happy he's here, and I'm convinced that Bryan will still be happy playing football here," added Frank.
The club sold Toney to Saudi Pro League side Al-Ahli, last summer, having previously sold Ollie Watkins to Aston Villa for £34million in 2020, the season before they were promoted to the Premier League.
But now, having consolidated their top-flight status, it will undoubtedly take a much larger figure to force Brentford to part ways with Mbeumo.
