Omar Marmoush believes Tottenham's first Premier League victory of the season is "just the beginning", arguing they deserve to have more points on the board.
Marmoush confident Spurs' first Premier League win is 'just the beginning'
Tottenham earned a vital win over Coventry City on Monday, and Omar Marmoush is confident Roberto De Zerbi's team will build on that result.
Spurs finally got in the win column at the seventh time of asking on Monday, with Marmoush netting his first goal for the club in a 3-1 success against Coventry City.
James Maddison and Ben Davies were also on target for Roberto De Zerbi's men, who scored all three of their goals from outside the box.
They became the first team to score three times from outside the area in a single Premier League game since Fulham versus Leicester City in May 2023. Tottenham previously did so in September 2022, also against Leicester.
The victory was just Spurs' sixth in their last 37 home Premier League games (D10 L21) and their fourth overall in the competition in 2026 (P27 D10 L13).
But Marmoush hopes they can now move on from a miserable period and pick up the consistent results he feels their performances have warranted.
"We are so, so happy. We have had good performances in that last week but haven't had the end result of a win," Marmoush told BBC Sport.
"We're very happy to win our first game today, and I'm also happy to score my first goal for Tottenham. We will build on this.
"In every game, we learn. As you said, we've played amazing in the first few weeks, but the result just wasn't there. It is just the beginning."
All 11 of Marmoush's Premier League goals have been scored in home games (10 for Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium, one for Spurs at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium) – the most goals a player has scored in the competition's history without any coming away from home.
Marmoush's strike – which inched Spurs into a 2-1 lead after Jack Rudoni had equalised for Coventry – eased the pressure on De Zerbi greatly, and he has enjoyed his first few weeks working with the Italian.
"I feel amazing. With the coach, he helps us all and teaches us small details. He also helps us on a personal basis," he said of De Zerbi.
"I love the intensity and passion that he brings, we believe in the system that we play. On the pitch, we are like a big family, and we will fight for each other until the end."
Spurs, who climbed to 16th in the table as a result of their win, face rivals Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Saturday, before hosting Crystal Palace a week later.
