Manchester City secure one of their key players with a move that marks the beginning of a new era
As a new era begins at the Etihad, Manchester City have made an important decision regarding one of the players who has developed the most in recent seasons.
Manchester City continue to shape their project for the coming seasons and have taken an important step to secure the future of one of the players who has become a key figure in their attack.
The English club confirmed Jérémy Doku’s five-year contract extension, a deal that will keep the Belgium international at the Etihad Stadium until the summer of 2031.
A long-term commitment in Manchester
At 24 years old, Doku has already made 131 official appearances and scored 22 goals for Manchester City, figures that highlight the importance he has gained since arriving in the Premier League. The winger has also registered 34 assists for the Citizens.
The Belgian has also helped the club win five trophies, including the Premier League, FA Cup, Carabao Cup, Club World Cup and Community Shield.
A new chapter under Maresca
The contract extension comes at a time of significant change at Manchester City. Enzo Maresca has taken charge of the team, and Doku has already expressed his excitement about the style the new manager intends to implement.
For Doku, this new chapter also represents an opportunity to continue developing after the years he spent working with Pep Guardiola, whom he acknowledged as an important figure in his growth since arriving in Manchester.
City continue to secure their core
Doku’s agreement is part of a series of moves through which Manchester City have begun securing key members of their squad. His renewal follows new contracts for Phil Foden, Joško Gvardiol and Abdukodir Khusanov.
With his future secured until 2031, the Belgian will now begin a new phase of his career at a City side looking to remain competitive while starting a new sporting cycle under Maresca’s leadership.
