Liverpool Doesn’t Miss Luis Díaz Despite His Stellar Form at Bayern Munich
The outstanding performances of Luis Díaz with Bayern Munich and the Colombian national team haven’t sparked any sense of regret at Liverpool, at least according to those close to the club. Even though the Colombian is enjoying one of the best moments of his career, sources at Anfield insist they are comfortable with their decision to sell him.
A farewell that brought big money and no regrets
English journalist Graeme Bailey explained that Liverpool’s board, led by the Fenway Sports Group, believes that letting the Colombian go was the right move. “It was the right deal. They got good money for him, and he was asking for too much to renew,” Bailey said.
During his time with the Reds, Luis Díaz played 148 matches, scored 41 goals, provided 17 assists, and won five trophies. However, his contract was one of the lowest in the squad — something the player tried to change through a renewal that never materialized. When Bayern Munich came forward with an offer, the deal was completed swiftly.
In Germany, the Colombian has lived up to expectations with brilliant displays: 6 goals and 4 assists in 10 official matches, establishing himself as a key piece under Vincent Kompany, whose side leads both the Bundesliga and its Champions League group. The Belgian coach publicly praised Díaz, highlighting his intensity and his partnership with Harry Kane, a duo that has become one of Europe’s most dangerous.
Anfield between calm and criticism
Despite the Colombian’s great form, there’s no official sense of remorse at Liverpool. The team, now managed by Arne Slot, is going through an inconsistent spell after spending over €400 million on reinforcements. Still, the club’s leadership maintains that the sale was necessary to balance the books and refresh the squad.
Not everyone agrees. Former players such as Daniel Sturridge and Djibril Cissé believe it was a mistake to let him go. “Díaz brought a unique pressing intensity in attack. His energy and hunger to win the ball back are things Liverpool lack today,” said Sturridge.
As the Reds suffer two straight defeats in the Premier League and watch Arsenal take the top spot, Luis Díaz continues to shine in Munich. His departure still divides opinion — but at Anfield, they insist they don’t miss him… at least for now.
