Liverpool and Arsenal target Mora 'could fit in with any team', says Mexico boss Marquez
Mexico's Gilberto Mora has been linked with some of Europe's biggest clubs since making his World Cup debut as a 17-year-old.
Mora is likely to make a big-money move – with a Liga MX record fee of $50m (£37m) mentioned in reports – to a European club after he turns 18 later this month.
The Club Tijuana winger scored his first senior international goal during Mexico's recent 1-1 draw with Colombia, after making headlines at El Tri's home World Cup this summer.
When he came off the bench in Mexico's tournament-opening win over South Africa, at the age of 17 years and 240 days, he became the youngest player to represent a host nation at a World Cup.
Mora also became the sixth-youngest World Cup debutant overall, with Northern Ireland's Norman Whiteside, Cameroon duo Samuel Eto'o and Salomon Olembe, Nigeria's Femi Opabunmi and Brazil icon Pele the only players to appear at the tournament while younger.
Marquez believes that whichever club is lucky enough to land Mora will be signing a star, with Liverpool and Arsenal both reportedly interested in his services.
"I think Gilberto is very talented and has a bright future ahead of him. He just needs the right guidance. I believe he could fit in with any team," Marquez said.
"He has the ability and, above all, the mindset to succeed. So, wherever he goes, I'm sure he'll have plenty of opportunities and a great career."
Mora has scored 13 goals and provided three assists in 57 appearances for Club Tijuana overall, having made his senior debut as a 15-year-old in August 2024.
