The game represents one of the first major tests for Arbeloa's project at Fulham. The Spanish coach took over following Marco Silva's departure for Benfica and has been tasked with keeping the club in the Premier League.

The Spanish coach acknowledged the difficulty of competing in the Premier League but insisted that he wants to build a Fulham side that will be difficult to beat throughout the season.

Arbeloa and Xabi Alonso Put Their Friendship Aside

The matchup against Chelsea will also have a personal element for both managers. Arbeloa confirmed that he recently spoke with Xabi Alonso, although he said their conversation had nothing to do with the upcoming game.

Their families are close and the two coaches have shared a friendship for years, but all of that will be put aside during the London derby.

"We are very good friends, but for 90 minutes we will give everything for our clubs. For 90 minutes we won't be friends because we both want to win this match," Arbeloa said.

Now, Fulham and Chelsea will have the final say on the pitch in a matchup that closes out the Premier League matchday and pits two Spanish managers who know each other extremely well against one another.
