Liverpool enters a new era under Iraola

Liverpool has entered a new chapter with Andoni Iraola taking charge following his impressive spell at Bournemouth. The Spanish manager has been tasked with restoring the club's competitiveness, although he believes further reinforcements are needed before the new season begins.

Iraola earned widespread praise after guiding Bournemouth into European competition for the first time in the club's history. His high-intensity, organized, and aggressive style convinced Liverpool's hierarchy that he was the right man to lead the team's rebuilding process.

So far, Liverpool has added only two players this summer: highly rated French center-back Jérémy Jacquet from Rennes and Spanish forward Víctor Muñoz. Even so, Iraola has publicly acknowledged that the squad still lacks depth, particularly in wide attacking positions.

The departures of Mohamed Salah and the long-term injury suffered by Hugo Ekitiké have left Liverpool short of attacking options. Although players such as Yan Diomande and Bradley Barcola have been linked with the club, neither transfer currently appears close to completion.

Defensively, the Reds are also adjusting to life after Ibrahima Konaté's move to Real Madrid, while both full-back positions remain areas that could be strengthened before the transfer window closes.

Beyond potential signings, one of Iraola's biggest priorities will be helping Florian Wirtz and Alexander Isak rediscover their best form. Liverpool invested heavily in both players, but injuries and inconsistent performances prevented them from making the expected impact last season.

Iraola enjoyed a winning start to preseason with a 4-2 victory over Sunderland, using the match to evaluate several academy prospects alongside senior players. While the performance offered encouraging signs, the Spanish coach knows Liverpool's ambitions will ultimately depend on completing the squad before the competitive campaign gets underway.
