Alejandro Garnacho took his first steps with the Aston Villa shirt during the pre-season tour. The deal with Villa is a one-season loan, although it includes a mandatory purchase clause of 43 million pounds subject to match-play objectives. Garnacho made it clear that his arrival in Birmingham is driven by a need to regain the brilliance he showed at Old Trafford: "I think it's important to play in European competitions. Joining to compete in the Champions League is also important. I am very happy and I hope we can do something great." Additionally, the Argentine highlighted the coach's role as a key factor: "He gave me that confidence, the confidence to be here."
