Emiliano "Dibu" Martínez could become one of the biggest names in this summer's transfer window. Despite being under contract with Aston Villa until 2029, the Argentine goalkeeper is reportedly considering leaving the Premier League club in search of a new challenge.

The 33-year-old is still reflecting on Argentina's defeat to Spain in the 2026 FIFA World Cup final. Once again, Martínez proved why he is regarded as one of the world's top goalkeepers, producing several outstanding saves that kept Argentina in the match despite Spain's dominance.

While Martínez previously stated that he would retire if he managed to win another World Cup, Argentina's defeat has shifted attention toward his club future instead.

Juventus has emerged as the leading contender to sign the World Cup-winning goalkeeper. Interest from the Italian giants has been reported for months, but this time head coach Luciano Spalletti publicly acknowledged that Martínez is one of the club's transfer targets.

"Dibu Martínez is a great goalkeeper and a player who wants to leave this summer. We are interested in him because we want more competition in the goalkeeper position, although we currently have two goalkeepers," Spalletti said after a preseason friendly.

Martínez now faces an important career decision. Staying at Aston Villa would allow him to continue competing in the UEFA Champions League, while a move to Juventus would offer the opportunity to help restore one of Italy's most historic clubs to the top of European football, although the Bianconeri are currently set to compete in the UEFA Europa League.

The coming weeks are expected to determine whether one of the world's elite goalkeepers begins a new chapter in Serie A.
