Calvert-Lewin wins second Premier League Player of the Month award
Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s stellar form saw him named Premier League Player of the Month for December, while Unai Emery won the manager award.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin was named Premier League Player of the Month for the second time in his career after winning the December award.
The Leeds United striker scored six times in five matches across the festive period, helping his side beat Chelsea and Crystal Palace as they remained unbeaten throughout the month.
Calvert-Lewin is the first player to win the Premier League Player of the Month award while playing for a newly promoted club since Teemu Pukki in August 2019, when current Leeds boss Daniel Farke was in charge of Norwich City.
The English forward previously won the award in September 2020 while at Everton, scoring five times in three matches.
It is the longest gap between awards by a winner who has played in the competition throughout since Robbie Keane, who won it in January 2001 and April 2007.
Unai Emery, meanwhile, was named as Premier League Manager of the Month for December.
Aston Villa won five of their six matches last month to strengthen their position in the Premier League, beating Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United in the process.
It is the third time Emery has won the award, previously being named Manager of the Month in April and December 2023.
He is one of five Villa bosses to have won the award, while only Martin O'Neill (four) has done so more often.
