Alejandro Garnacho in Trouble After Driving 'Illegal Car' to Manchester United Training
The young Argentine winger was spotted behind the wheel of an untaxed vehicle amid growing rumors of his potential exit from Old Trafford.
Garnacho at the Center of Controversy Over Unregistered Vehicle
Alejandro Garnacho is making headlines off the pitch once again—and not for sporting reasons. The Manchester United forward was caught driving a vehicle with unpaid road tax, making it illegal to drive on public roads in the UK. The report, released by Daily Mail, adds to the tension surrounding the player’s uncertain future with the English club.
According to the UK’s Ministry of Transport database, the car’s road tax has been overdue since October of last year. Violations of this nature may result in fines starting at £30 plus 150% of the outstanding tax, or escalate to court proceedings with penalties reaching up to £1,000 or five times the owed amount—whichever is higher.
This controversy arises at a delicate moment for Manchester United, where Garnacho has been sidelined alongside Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho, Antony, and Tyrell Malacia. The club has limited their access to first-team facilities, allowing them to train only after 5 p.m., once the main squad has departed.
Future at Old Trafford Looks Increasingly Uncertain
Garnacho’s position with the Red Devils appears to be on shaky ground. Following the departure of manager Rúben Amorim, the winger has failed to establish himself within the squad, and his relationship with the club seems to be deteriorating. He also stirred controversy recently by criticizing how the club handled Rashford’s situation, a move viewed by many as an act of defiance.
Despite the off-field drama, Garnacho continues to attract interest from other Premier League sides, most notably Chelsea, which is reportedly exploring the possibility of making a move if Manchester United opens the door to his transfer.
In the meantime, the Argentine must deal with his legal troubles as soon as possible. Failure to resolve them could lead to further complications—not just for his public image, but also for his contract stability in what is already shaping up to be a turbulent season.
