Adli calls for Bournemouth to maintain high standards against Wolves
Bournemouth's form has picked up since the turn of the year, and they visit rock-bottom Wolves for their next Premier League game this week.
Bournemouth showcased their potential by overcoming Liverpool last weekend and are hoping to maintain their positive momentum against Wolves, says forward Amine Adli.
Adli scored a 95th-minute winner as Bournemouth defeated Liverpool 3-2 at the Vitality Stadium last Saturday, meaning they have now won two of their last three Premier League games via winning goals in the 90th minute or later (also 3-2 versus Tottenham).
The Cherries have taken seven points from their last three matches to climb to 13th in the table, having previously gone 11 games without victory prior to this streak.
And Adli does not want to see any drop-off when Bournemouth visit bottom club Wolves on Saturday, for what will be their 100th game under head coach Andoni Iraola.
"It shows how strong we can be," Adli told Bournemouth's website of last week's win. "It hasn't been an easy situation, but everyone is behind each other. We are a good team.
"We're working very well and this victory is massive for us. Now we want to look forward to the next few games and keep this momentum going."
Wolves, meanwhile, saw their four-match unbeaten streak halted by a 2-0 defeat at Manchester City last weekend, with former Bournemouth forward Antoine Semenyo joining Omar Marmoush on the scoresheet.
Defender Ladislav Krejci felt there were positives for Rob Edwards' team to take from that match, though.
He said: "Of course, there will be ups and downs. It cannot be only up, winning or drawing every time, and it's about how we deal with that.
"We need to keep the positives of the past results, the good things we did, also in the City game, and continue.
"It's not easy, but it's a process. Between now and the end of the season there will be ups and downs, but I believe we are in a good way to start grabbing more points."
PLAYERS TO WATCH
Wolves – Mateus Mane
Since making his first Premier League start against Liverpool on December 27, Mane has attempted almost twice as many dribbles as any other Wolves player (26 – Joao Gomes is second with 14).
Mane is the only Wolves player to score multiple Premier League goals in that time, while he also leads all his team-mates for shots attempted in that span (16).
Bournemouth – Junior Kroupi
No side have conceded more goals from outside the box in the Premier League this season than Wolves (nine), while only Aston Villa (13) have scored more from distance than Bournemouth (11).
Man City forward Semenyo leads the way for goals from outside the box this campaign, with four, leaving Kroupi and Marcus Tavernier (both two) as Bournemouth's most prolific players from distance.
MATCH PREDICTION: BOURNEMOUTH WIN
Wolves have lost each of their last three Premier League home games against Bournemouth, having won their first two against them in the competition.
And having won 1-0 in the reverse fixture in August, Bournemouth could complete just their third league double over Wolves, having previously accomplished the feat in 1985-86 (third tier) and 2014-15 (Championship).
Bournemouth have also lost just two of their last 19 Premier League games against sides in the relegation zone (W13 D4). Away from home, they have won seven of their last eight, though the exception was a 2-1 loss to Edwards' Luton Town in April 2024.
While the Cherries are the Opta supercomputer's favourites, Wolves should at least keep things competitive.
Between May and December, Wolves conceded in all 11 of their home Premier League games, conceding 26 goals in total. They have since kept a clean sheet in their last two at Molineux, their longest run since a four-game streak in April and May 2023.
