A Fan Launches Gofundme To Help Manchester United Sign a New Player
As Manchester United continues to shape its squad for the upcoming season, one devoted supporter has taken an unexpected step: launching a GoFundMe campaign to help fund the signing of midfielder Carlos Baleba, currently playing for Brighton.
According to The Daily Mail, the team managed by Ruben Amorim is interested in the promising young player, but negotiations appear stalled due to Brighton’s high asking price. In response, a fan identified as Ian M. decided to act on his own by asking for contributions to raise a staggering £120 million (around $161 million USD).
When passion goes beyond the limits
So far, the campaign has only raised £5, but it features a repeated plea: “We need this to happen.” While the move may seem symbolic—or even unrealistic—it has drawn attention on social media, highlighting the fan’s devotion and his unwillingness to see the club miss out on Baleba.
Signing the midfielder will be no easy task, as Brighton is reportedly reluctant to sell and will demand a significant fee. Meanwhile, United has already secured the arrivals of Bryan Mbeumo, Matheus Cunha, and Diego Leon, though Amorim is still pushing for a new addition in midfield.
Successful U.S. tour ends on a high note
While fans are getting creative off the pitch, Manchester United wrapped up its pre-season tour in the United States with a 2-2 draw against Everton, played at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta. The match marked the final game of the Premier League Summer Series, which also featured West Ham and Bournemouth.
Goals from Bruno Fernandes (from the penalty spot) and Mason Mount helped United remain unbeaten on tour, following a 2-1 win over West Ham and a 4-1 thrashing of Bournemouth. These results earned Amorim’s side the tournament title.
Elsewhere, West Ham closed the tournament with a 2-0 victory over Bournemouth, thanks to goals by Niclas Füllkrug and Jarrod Bowen, leaving fans optimistic ahead of the new season.

While Carlos Baleba’s future at Manchester United remains uncertain, one thing is clear—the Red Devils' supporters will stop at nothing to help their club succeed, even if it means crowdfunding a multi-million-pound transfer.
