(VIDEO) Erling Haaland Plunges Into Ice… Just for Motivational Purposes
The Manchester City striker shared a unique recovery routine after earning another Player of the Match award
An extreme method to stay at the top
The unstoppable scoring form of Erling Haaland is no coincidence. The Norwegian star continues to impress both on and off the pitch with methods designed to keep him ahead of any rival. After scoring a brace in Manchester City’s 3-1 Premier League win over Bournemouth, the forward chose a rather unconventional way to relax: plunging into an ice bath with his trophy at his side.
A video posted on his social networks shows the striker walking through the darkness wearing only shorts, carrying the award he earned for being the best player in the match. Before entering the cold water, he lifted it to the camera and stated: “For motivational purposes only.”
The ice bath took his breath away at first, but he quickly settled into the freezing water and gave a fist pump to those watching — an image that perfectly illustrates the sacrifice and discipline of one of the most feared forwards in world football.
Stunning numbers and elite professionalism
The two goals against the Cherries brought Haaland to 17 goals in only 13 matches for the Citizens this season. Adding his international appearances with Norway, he has already scored 26 goals in 16 outings, including a pair of hat-tricks that solidify his status as Europe’s most lethal striker.
His obsession with peak performance is nothing new. Haaland has revealed that his diet — considered bizarre by many — includes hearts and livers, helping him consume around 6,000 calories per day. He also maximizes his recovery with cryotherapy, strength training, and controlled rest.
Even after the victory, he expressed slight disappointment at not securing another hat-trick following his substitution in the 82nd minute by Pep Guardiola.
“Of course, you need to ask Pep about this,” he joked, aware that some fantasy football managers were not pleased with the change.
Still, he acknowledged the importance of bouncing back after the loss to Aston Villa, reaffirming his mission to help the team above all. Manchester City sits second in the league, six points behind leaders Arsenal, and now shifts focus to a critical Champions League clash against Borussia Dortmund, followed by a home test against Liverpool.
