(VIDEO) All the Goals from Manchester United vs Brighton in the Premier League
Manchester United put on a show at Old Trafford, defeating Brighton 4-2 in an action-packed clash that confirmed the team’s resurgence under Rúben Amorim following their historic victory at Anfield against Liverpool.
Casemiro Leads United’s Best Version Yet
Manchester United is back. After ending a nine-year drought without winning at Anfield, the Red Devils extended their momentum with a thrilling 4-2 victory over Brighton & Hove Albion. Under Rúben Amorim, the team played one of its most complete matches of the season, dominating for long stretches before surviving a late scare.
From the start, Casemiro dictated the tempo and became the engine of United’s midfield. The Brazilian silenced critics who had written him off in England, producing a masterclass performance with a goal and an assist in just ten minutes. First, he set up Matheus Cunha, who opened his scoring account for the club, and moments later, he found the net himself with a powerful long-range strike that deflected off a Brighton defender and wrong-footed goalkeeper Bart Verbruggen.
With a 2-0 lead, the home side continued to dominate and extended the advantage when Bryan Mbeumo finished off a counterattack led by Benjamin Sesko, making it 3-0 and virtually sealing the win — or so it seemed.
Brighton Fights Back, but Mbeumo Seals It Late
In the second half, Brighton refused to go quietly. Former United forward Danny Welbeck cut the deficit with a stunning free kick into the top corner, showing that at 34, he still has plenty left to offer. Deep into stoppage time, Charalampos Kostoulas added another goal from a corner to make it 3-2 and briefly ignite hopes of a comeback.
But the Red Devils put the game to bed in the dying moments when Mbeumo scored his second of the night, restoring the two-goal cushion and securing a vital victory for Manchester United.
With this result, United celebrates three straight wins for the first time under Rúben Amorim, moving into the Champions League spots with 16 points. Meanwhile, Brighton sits mid-table with 12 points, still within reach of European contention.
