Álvaro Arbeloa New Fulham Coach With A Contract Until 2029 And Debut Against Chelsea
The former Real Madrid coach signed a three-year contract and will debut in the Premier League against Xabi Alonso's Chelsea.
Arbeloa signs with Fulham
Fulham confirmed the arrival of Álvaro Arbeloa as their new manager following the departure of Marco Silva, who left for Benfica. The former Real Madrid coach signed a three-season contract and will face his first experience in the Premier League, with the aim of consolidating the club in England's top division.
Madrid's record and challenges
Arbeloa, 43, took over the reins of the Madrid team last January, replacing Xabi Alonso. His campaign saw 18 wins in 28 official matches, with two draws and eight losses, but no titles. Madrid finished second in LaLiga behind Barcelona, and was eliminated in the quarterfinals of the Champions League and in the round of 16 of the Copa del Rey. His time there was also marked by tensions outside of the field with players such as Kylian Mbappé, Federico Valverde, and Aurélien Tchouaméni

Excitement in London
The player from Salamanca is now starting a new chapter at Craven Cottage. “It is a real honor to begin this chapter at Fulham, the oldest club in London. I feel a great responsibility and I thank Mr. Khan and Tony Khan for their trust," Arbeloa said on the official website. His competitive debut will be on August 24 against Alonso's Chelsea, in a London derby with a Spanish flavor. Fulham finished 11th in the Premier League, tied on points with the Blues and just one point behind the Conference League spot. The expectation is to see if Arbeloa can transfer his experience in the European elite to a project that seeks to make a qualitative leap in England.
