Manchester United’s Million-Euro Plan to Sign Gyökeres: Is This Goodbye for Garnacho?
The future of Alejandro Garnacho at Manchester United appears to be reaching its end. After a disastrous season that ended with a painful defeat in the Europa League final against Tottenham Hotspur, the young Argentine forward is reportedly on his way out of Old Trafford.
According to British media, tensions between Garnacho and new coach Rúben Amorim played a key role in this decision. Reports indicate that the Portuguese manager has already told the player he is free to look for a new club, opening the door for a summer exit.
At just 20 years old, Garnacho has attracted interest from several major clubs. Chelsea and other Premier League sides have already made inquiries, while clubs from Saudi Arabia have also shown interest. In addition, Serie A champions Napoli are said to be monitoring the situation closely.
Despite the internal conflict, Garnacho's individual performance has been strong. He played 57 matches this season and scored 11 goals, making it his best campaign as a professional. Although he’s under contract with United until 2028, the club sees his departure as a strategic move in their rebuilding plans.
The €100 Million Plan: Garnacho as a Key to the Deal
Garnacho’s potential exit is not only due to his fallout with Amorim, but is also part of a larger financial strategy. According to The Telegraph, Manchester United plans to use the funds from his sale — expected to be between €60 and €70 million — to pursue the signing of Viktor Gyökeres, the star striker from Sporting Lisbon.
The Swedish forward has emerged as one of Europe’s top scorers, and United views him as the perfect fit to lead their new attacking era. His release clause stands at €100 million — a figure the club is willing to meet, provided they can free up wages and stay within Financial Fair Play regulations.

Since Garnacho is considered a homegrown player, his sale would offer a clean financial boost, helping to fund this major signing without damaging the club’s financial balance.
With Garnacho’s departure likely, Manchester United is not only planning a sporting overhaul but also preparing for a major economic shift, potentially ushering in a new chapter built around elite-level reinforcements.
