Dibu Martínez Tempted by Millions: Is He Heading to Saudi Football?
The Argentine goalkeeper would have a brutal offer from the Saudi Pro League on the table... will he say goodbye to Europe or will he remain in the elite?
Argentina’s No. 1 goalkeeper, Emiliano Martínez, made it clear at the end of last season in the Premier League that his future lay away from Aston Villa, the club he served for five years. What wasn’t so clear was where the World Cup winner, still going strong at 32, would end up. And now, the millions are starting to knock on his door.

Rumors linking him to Old Trafford
At first, the strongest reports had Dibu moving to another English club: Manchester United. The Red Devils just came off a tough season with André Onana, who racked up costly mistakes for the side now led by Rúben Amorim.
But the truth is, Aston Villa hasn’t received any official offer from Old Trafford, leaving the door wide open for other suitors — and that’s where Saudi football comes into play.
The big-money offer from Saudi Arabia
According to The Athletic, several top-spending clubs in the Saudi Pro League are ready to break the bank to sign Dibu. If that formal offer lands on the table, the final decision will rest with Aston Villa, as the Argentine keeper is under contract until 2029.
What’s Dibu thinking?
Martínez has said more than once that his goal is to keep competing at the highest level, with the 2026 World Cup firmly on his mind. A move to Manchester United wouldn’t bother him — it’d mean staying in the most demanding league on the planet. But as everyone knows, turning down the millions from Saudi Arabia isn’t easy. Dibu will have to weigh up whether he prefers going to bed with a bank account full of zeros… or with the World Cup still dancing in his dreams.
