Chelsea Locks Down: Won’t Let Enzo Fernández Go Despite Madrid’s Pursuit
Enzo Fernández, one of the key assets in Chelsea’s current project, is once again on Real Madrid’s radar, setting off alarm bells in London. According to reports from England, the Premier League club is determined to keep hold of the Argentine midfielder despite strong interest from the Spanish giants as they look to bolster their midfield in the upcoming transfer window.
According to Daily Mail, the Blues see Fernández as a crucial figure in their squad—not just for his technical contributions, but also for his physical presence and leadership on the pitch. Since his arrival from Benfica in January 2023 for £106.8 million, the World Cup winner from Qatar 2022 has established himself as an undisputed starter.
Enzo Fernández on Real Madrid’s radar
Real Madrid’s interest in the Argentine is nothing new. The Spanish side has been following him since his time at River Plate, and while they have already added young stars like Jude Bellingham, Eduardo Camavinga, and Aurélien Tchouaméni, the club sees Fernández as a potential successor to Luka Modrić.
However, at Stamford Bridge, they have no plans to let him leave. Head coach Enzo Maresca has given the midfielder a more advanced role this season, adjusting the team’s system to allow him to join the attack more frequently. His understanding with Moisés Caicedo and Romeo Lavia has been essential to maintaining balance in midfield.

The numbers back up his importance: he’s covered more ground than any other Chelsea player in most Premier League matches, often running over 11 kilometers in games against Manchester City, Everton, and Aston Villa. He has also contributed offensively with key assists, outperforming names like Martin Ødegaard, Luis Díaz, and Phil Foden in that regard.
Despite some off-field controversies, the club has stood by him and continues to view him as central to its long-term plans. Amid financial constraints and a squad rebuild, Chelsea knows it can’t afford to lose such a valuable asset.
Still, Real Madrid’s gaze is not fixed solely on Enzo. Reports also link them with another Argentine, Alexis Mac Allister, currently shining at Liverpool. The Spanish club could offer around €90 million, but Anfield is said to be holding out for a minimum of €100 million.
With the transfer market about to heat up, the pressure is mounting. But in London, the message is clear: Enzo Fernández is not for sale.
