Amorim Sends Clear Message After Disappointing Manchester United Season
Rúben Amorim didn’t hold back after a turbulent year for Manchester United, stating that a season like this cannot happen again and calling for greater accountability within the squad.
“This can’t happen again,” says Amorim
Following a season filled with inconsistency, disappointing exits, and underwhelming league results, Manchester United manager Rúben Amorim delivered a blunt assessment of his team’s performance. For the Portuguese coach, the lessons from this campaign must lead to immediate change.
“This season has shown us clearly that we cannot go through something like this again,” said Amorim. “We understand the context, but a year like this cannot be repeated. It’s time to change the mindset.”
The coach also stressed the importance of understanding what it means to represent the club. “You need to know what it means to play for Manchester United. Wearing this shirt comes with pressure and expectations — and not everyone has met them.”
Praise for youngsters and necessary rotation
Despite the club’s struggles, Amorim found positives in the performances of younger players who stepped up when needed. “I’m really happy with the kids. They haven’t played much, but they’ve delivered when asked to play 90 minutes,” he said.
One standout was Tyler, who impressed with his contribution to the third goal. “He did very well in that moment, but he needs more help from Amad. These small details matter, and as a staff, we have to support them better.”
Amorim also addressed the rotations in his squad ahead of Thursday’s European fixture. “We had to rest some players, so others had to take on bigger roles despite not featuring regularly. That’s part of managing a squad at this level.”
With a crucial European match approaching and no more room for error, Amorim’s message is loud and clear: changes are coming, and Manchester United must rediscover the standards that built its legacy.
