Alejandro Garnacho’s Nightmare Ending to the Season With Manchester United
The season finale for Manchester United was marked not only by poor collective performance but also by an internal conflict that triggered all the alarms in the dressing room: the complete breakdown of the relationship between Alejandro Garnacho and his coach, Rúben Amorim.

According to British media, the Portuguese strategist reportedly had a harsh exchange with the young Argentine winger in the days following the lost Europa League final. “You better pray that some club wants to sign you,” was one of the phrases allegedly directed at Garnacho by Amorim, visibly upset with the player’s performance. These words reflect the tension surrounding United, which closed a season full of frustrations, scandals, and disappointing results.
Garnacho, sidelined in key moments
The conflict ignited after the semifinals of the continental tournament, where the 'Red Devils' eliminated Athletic Club. Despite the overall victory, Amorim did not hesitate to publicly point to Garnacho for missing a clear goal opportunity in the second leg at Old Trafford. “It’s easy to talk now, but who missed a very clear chance in the first half of the semifinal? Garnacho. That’s football,” said the coach, who broke the usual locker-room codes.
From that moment, the participation of the Argentine forward was drastically reduced. In the final month of competition, he accumulated just 312 minutes, starting in only three matches. He was even excluded from the squad for the last game of the season against Aston Villa, a clear message from the coaching staff.
The most serious point in the dispute came in front of the rest of the team, when Amorim reportedly told him: “You will never play for this club again while I’m here. Find another destination, because neither the club nor I want you here.” This statement, allegedly leaked from within the club, suggests that the management supports the coach over the young talent.
Uncertain future for one of Argentina’s top prospects
With this situation on the table, the future of Alejandro Garnacho seems far from Manchester. The Argentine international, born in Spain, is already exploring options to leave, with several European clubs interested in acquiring his services. The case is reminiscent of what happened to David De Gea two years ago, when the goalkeeper was also sidelined without a clear explanation from the club.
The saga between Garnacho and Manchester United appears to be reaching its final chapter, and while the club prepares for a new rebuild, another homegrown talent is getting ready to pack his bags.
