Polish PKO BP Ekstraklasa: Round 31: Tapsoba’s Night of Glory, Warsaw Late Drama
Round 32 delivered everything Ekstraklasa fans crave: stunning hat-tricks, relegation heartbreak, last-gasp winners and another twist in the title race.
17 goals were scored across seven games (2.43g/game). Home sides dominated with four wins, while visitors managed just one victory.
The fixtures involving Górnik Zabrze and Raków Częstochowa were postponed until May 13 following their showdown in the Polish Cup final. On May 2, Lukas Podolski’s team lifted the prestigious trophy with a 2-0 win. It was Górnik’s first cup victory in 54 years and seventh overall. Raków reached their fourth final in six seasons but fell short of collecting a third title, a defeat that ultimately cost manager Łukasz Tomczyk his job.
Tapsoba Outshines Bobcek
Filip Cuić announced himself in style for Pogoń Szczecin, scoring his first Ekstraklasa goals in a 3-0 victory over Wisła Płock. Meanwhile, Eman Markovic stayed red-hot by scoring another brace as GKS Katowice crushed Termalica Bruk-Bet Nieciecza 5-1. It marked Markovic’s third two-goal performance in his last four matches. The result officially sealed relegation for the visitors and propelled GKS Katowice — who were in the relegation zone after 11 rounds — into an astonishing third place in the standings.
Monday night, however, belonged to Abdoul Tapsoba. Before facing Lechia Gdańsk, the Burkina Faso international had never scored more than three goals in a single season. Against Lechia, he matched that total in just 22 electrifying minutes.

Thanks to the first hat-trick of his professional career, Radomiak Radom secured three crucial points and extended their winning streak to three matches. The only positive for Lechia, who have now lost three straight away matches and conceded 57 goals this season, was the 17th goal of the campaign from Tomas Bobcek, who converted from the penalty spot.
Late Drama in Warsaw
In one of Poland’s classic matchups, Legia Warszawa hosted Widzew Łódź in a game with huge implications at the bottom of the table. Both former Ekstraklasa champions desperately needed points in the relegation battle.
In the end, it was Legia who celebrated thanks to a dramatic last-second goal from Rafał Adamski. The 24-year-old forward scored his third goal of the season after also netting the winner against Zagłębie Lubin in Round 29. His rise has been remarkable considering he was still playing in the Polish first division with Pogoń Grodzisk Mazowiecki as recently as February.
What’s Ahead in Round 32?
Despite the season-ending injury suffered by Ali Gholizadeh, Lech Poznań remains heavily favored against Arka Gdynia at home, where they have won four of their last five matches. If they secure another victory and Górnik Zabrze drops points against Zagłębie Lubin, the Poznań side could be preparing for back-to-back league titles.
Elsewhere, Widzew Łódź faces another critical clash, this time against Lechia Gdańsk, in a match that could prove decisive in the relegation fight.
