Lechia Gdańsk Defeats Pogoń Szczecin in an Unforgettable PKO BP Ekstraklasa Match
Lechia Gdańsk secured their first away win in the 2025/26 Ekstraklasa after beating Pogoń Szczecin 4-3 in a spectacular game full of goals, drama, and excitement until the very last minute.
A seven-goal spectacle in Szczecin
The clash between Pogoń Szczecin and Lechia Gdańsk on Matchday 9 of the Ekstraklasa was a real spectacle. The visitors won 4-3 in a game full of intensity, changes in the score and excitement until the final whistle, thus achieving their first away win of the 2025/26 season.
Pogoń started better, with Rajmund Molnár and Musa Juwara leading the attack, which was reflected in the scoreboard with two goals before halftime. However, Lechia never stopped competing: Camilo Mena narrowed the gap in the first half and Ivan Želizko equalized at the start of the second.
Lechia comes back despite missing a penalty
The key moment came in the 64th minute, when Rifet Kapić had the chance to put Lechia ahead from the penalty spot, but goalkeeper Valentin Cojocaru saved his shot. Despite the miss, John Carver's team kept pressing and took the lead in the 77th minute, when Danijel Lončar deflected the ball into his own net to make it 3-2.

Sezonienko seals the deal at the end
With Pogoń pushing forward in search of an equalizer, substitute Kacper Sezonienko took advantage of a counterattack to make it 4-2 in added time. Fredrik Ulvestad scored a penalty in the final play, but there was no time for more.
Next up in the Ekstraklasa
The victory is a morale boost for Lechia, who needed to pick up points away from home to stay in the fight for European places. Pogoń, meanwhile, will need to tighten up their defense, having conceded four goals in a game that seemed under control.
The result leaves Lechia closing in on the top of the table, while Pogoń misses the opportunity to climb the standings at home.
