Toronto FC v Charlotte FC: Fraser excited by in-form Brynhildsen
Toronto FC host Charlotte FC this weekend in MLS, with both sides needing a victory to snap below-par runs of form.
Toronto head coach Robin Fraser is excited by what he has seen from striker Ola Brynhildsen since he arrived on loan from Midtjylland in February.
The Norwegian has netted two goals since joining the club, including one in Toronto's 2-1 defeat to Philadelphia Union in midweek.
“When he scored the goal, the first thing that went through my mind is the question I was asked last week: have we seen the best of him?” said Fraser after Wednesday's game, as quoted by Waking The Red.
“I think he’s really good. His ability to hold the ball, his willingness to run offensively, his willingness to run defensively.
“You look at him and you don’t think he’s very big, how physical can he be? He is an absolute physical specimen, and he scored a fantastic goal. That is such a forward’s goal. As he was approaching the box, I’m thinking, where’s he going to go?
“Tough angle on his right foot. And in that situation, really, the safest place is high near post. He executes it to perfection.”
Brynhildsen himself is pleased to finally get going in terms of goals, having felt that Toronto have not played to his strengths so far this season.
That would check out, given that it took him nine MLS appearances to get his first goal, while he has managed just two in 11 games.
“Yeah, I felt like people haven’t used me enough on what I’m good at,” he told reporters.
“Yeah, when I get the chance, when I get the balls in behind, I feel I can create something. That’s been lacking the previous games, but I really felt that we created our space and people knew where I was going to run.
“I just need more of those balls and they need to use me like that and I will try to score more.”
PLAYERS TO WATCH
Toronto – Federico Bernardeschi
Bernardeschi is Toronto's top scorer and also has more goal contributions than any other player in the squad with seven (four goals, three assists).
He scored two goals and laid on one assist in Toronto's most recent win as they beat CF Montreal 6-1 earlier in the month.
Charlotte – Patrick Agyemang
Agyemang has been involved in a goal in each of Charlotte’s last three matches (three goals, one assist), including providing an assist on Wednesday.
The 24-year-old has scored five goals and contributed one assist in total during his 15 MLS appearances this season.
MATCH PREDICTION: CHARLOTTE WIN
Toronto have lost nine of its last 12 regular-season home matches (W1 D2), including the last three in a row. Toronto has scored a total of six goals over those 12 matches.

Toronto come into this on the back of back-to-back defeats and five losses in their last seven, including three straight home losses.
Charlotte recently ended a five-game losing streak with a 3-2 victory over the Columbus Crew last weekend, before losing 4-2 to the New York Red Bulls in midweek.
